The Party Principle That Always Does the Trick

MopDo you want to know the principle behind a responsible and proactive person?

It’s not a quick-fix. It requires work (sorry to disappoint).

Once you incorporate this principle into your life, you will understand why it is the cornerstone to any successful company or person.

Apply it to all areas of life, and see how the party principle always does the trick.

We can break down the party principle into three easy steps.

1. Plan

The planning stage is key. It creates mental images of what you want your party to be like.

Who do you invite? When is the party set for and where will you have it?  What precautions must you take into account?

In the planning stage, you consider the answers to your most burning questions.

2. Do

You’re in the moment. Things go wrong, but the show must go on.

Your plans crash, but that’s okay. We must remember Lao Tzu’s wise words:

“No plan survives contact with the enemy.”

So live according to the party principle and let things happen. Learn from your enemy. Remember, though, that what you shall sow, you must reap…

Which leads us to the final step of the party principle.

3. Clean up

It’s no fun. You’ve seen adults run for less. But what happens if you don’t do it?

Cleaning up is critical to fulfilling the party principle because it forces you to evaluate your evening. What went wrong and how can I improve?

As much as you love your good friend Stacy, you don’t want to clean up after her mess. It stinks. So what are you going to do about it? Are you going to talk to her?

Cleaning up allows you to be proactive in your thinking. It urges you to think again before you serve Stacy that extra drink that tips her off the edge. And it teaches you how to tackle a heck of a lot of other issues, too.

Plan. Do. Clean up.

That’s the principle.

No shortcuts. No magic. Just plain common sense.

Take it to your heart, and see life teach you lesson after lesson about the wonders of being alive.
